I have been teaching privately and in college classrooms for the past decade. No matter your age, musical background, or skill level, I can help you develop your abilities.
For my percussion students, focus is placed on building a strong foundation on music theory while developing classic technique on snare drum, mallets, timpani, and drum set. Preparation for school events, NYSSMA Solos levels 1-6, and college auditions are available as part of my private lesson curriculum. I encourage my students to seek out and listen to new music in order to expand their understanding of and deepen their engagement with contemporary percussion techniques.
My electronics students learn music technology skill sets that immensely benefit modern composers and performers. Microphone set up and use, tools and methods for recording, audio editing, use of audio effects, MIDI programming, and visual programming languages like Max/MSP and Pure Data are all available avenues for student exploration during lessons. Learn how to professionally put together your own audition tapes or how to use music technology to compose your own music. Crossover lessons for percussion and electronics are fully supported. I am also available for consultations to assist with the brainstorming, creation, and troubleshooting of electronic work.
